Made by Hand: A woman's Journey Expressed through Fiber

April 7 - May 12, 2018


Two female fiber artists are paired together for this journey told through fiber. Each Manipulating fibers to embed their creations with meaning and explore identity.

Anita Luvera Mayer is an internationally recognized weaver, fiber artist and author. She creates garments infused with personal experiences by incorporating an incredible range of techniques including dyeing, weaving, crochet, freeform knitting, beadwork and embroidery. Each garment is a journey fusing layers of symbolism.

Jennifer Schermerhorn creates figurative sculptures that capture the relationship of humans and nature, challenging women's roles in society, and culminates in the juxtaposition between strength and fragility. Her fiber creations are made from wool, using felting needles to coax the fiber into the delicate forms.

All MAC gallery exhibits are free and open to the public.
