For many years, the artwork of Kristin Powers Nowlin has explored how American culture defines and determines race. In her current body of work, Powers Nowlin responds to images used in print advertisements of the 1920's-1950's, including travel brochures and coffee ads. Her black and white woodblock prints show a more accurate reality rather than the idealized images of the advertisements.
All MAC gallery exhibits are free and open to the public.
