The Community School for the Performing Arts (CSPA) is pleased to announce that Dr. Mandy Wang has been appointed to the role of String Division Chair. Dr. Wang has been an instructor with CSPA for the last two years, teaching both private lessons and group classes.
Dr. Wang has a phenomenal reputation as both an excellent performer and teacher. She is the winner of several national and international awards, including the Capital Normal University (Beijing, China) Music Competition and the West Central MTNA Chamber Music Competition (Las Vegas, NV), and she continues to perform throughout the world. Dr. Wang holds a Doctor of Music Arts (DMA) in Violin Performance and Viola Studies degree from the University of Kansas and Suzuki certification. In addition to her role at CSPA, Dr. Wang is on the string faculty of Ottawa University.
An excellent collaborator and colleague, Dr. Wang moved to Manhattan this past summer (yes, in the middle of a pandemic!) so that she could better serve the students and families of the region. She's delivered lessons both online and in person, conducted masterclasses, and coordinated recitals through a year of unique challenges, but has ensured string students have been able to learn and grow.
Dr. Wang is available for private lessons this summer. She will lead a Violin Bootcamp for pre-K and elementary students new to violin Jul 19-23. In collaboration with Dr. Rachel Dirks, Director of Orchestra Studies at Kansas State University, Dr. Wang will host an Orchestra Conditioning Camp for middle school students Aug 2-6, and lead a Chamber Music Camp for students elementary through high school Aug 9-12.
For information on lessons, classes, and camps, please contact Dr. Mandy Wang at cspastrings@manhattanarts.org or Michele Ward, MAC Education & Marketing Director at marketing@manhattanarts.org.
The Community School for the Performing Arts (CSPA) was formed in 2017 as a partnership between the K-State School of Music, Theatre, and Dance and the Manhattan Arts Center with generous support from the Lincoln and Dorothy Deihl Fund through the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation. The mission of CSPA is to provide the highest quality performing arts education to supplement and support the arts education efforts of schools and community organizations.
