Arsenic and Old Lace

Performances: Sep 25-27 & Oct 2-4, 2020

By Joseph Kesselring, Directed by Penny Cullers

Meet the Brewster family. The charming and innocent ladies who populate their cellar with the remains of socially and religiously "acceptable" roomers; their nephew who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt digging the Panama Canal; and the other nephew - whose activities require no further description here. A classic dark comedy.

Find the show program here.

Since we are not having a meet & greet after the show, please say hello to our cast and crew in the comments!

I love the this play very much. I’ve watch all the actors bloom with there characters from beginning to end and they have all done such a fantastic job. With each show you guys just get better and better! It’s amazing to see the chemistry between all the actors. Martha & Abby, Johnathan & Einstein, and Elaine & Mortimer just all do wonderful job! Really enjoy OHera scene, she really brings the character to life, and the cops really make it sound like I’m listening to a real Brooklyn cop. I’m so happy to have been chosen to stage manage this play and watch all of you grow.

I have heard about this play my whole life and had never seen it until yesterday. What a fun experience! Andrew, so good to see you back on the stage! Alicia, I was concerned about how the physicality of the part might cause you to hurt for days—you carried it off well. Donald Houston and Audrey, I’ve never seen you in big roles; you were both great in those parts! Sue, you were great, as always! Louise, I don’t know you, but you and Nellie pulled off those parts so well. Frank, it was good to see you again! To the rest of you: thanks for what you did to make this play so enjoyable. Penny — your shows are always good; thanks so much for continuing to share your talent with our community. Billy & Steph - thanks for your commitment to these productions. To Penny S and all at the MAC: thanks for keeping live theatre going in the midst of very difficult times. We appreciate you!

Oh, I forgot to mention Don Davis (still DJ to me) in my earlier post. DJ, I’ve never seen you play a character so cold and evil. You were actually very scary! Remind me never to get you angry... I know you’ve been in several productions I haven’t seen, but I can say this was the best performance I’ve seen you do.
