Open Studios
For all greater Manhattan area community members who want to work on various art projects in a supportive, growth, and fellowship oriented atmosphere. No instruction is provided. Please bring all supplies you will need for your project.
Students enrolled in MAC classes may attend the Open Public Community studios at no charge while concurrently enrolled. Instruction may be provided if prearranged with the teacher of the class. Children must be accompanied by an adult. We ask that students bring all supplies with them.
For participation in the annual studio gallery exhibits, you must be a paying member of a studio for six or more months. **See Full Schedule Below
Art Open Studios
Monday and Thursdays 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Price $5 per month, cash only

Printmaking Open Studio
Sundays 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Host: Emma Kellogg
Price: $5 per month, cash only
This studio is for anyone that has limited experience in printmaking methods. We supply all necessary inks, paper, and tools except for lino blocks and other substrates. As with all of our studios, concurrently enrolled students in a printmaking class may attend without cost. Please be respectful of the space and clean up after yourself.
Metalsmithing and Glass Open Studio
Sundays 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Host: Jess Buckman
Price $5 per session, cash or card
This combined studio allows for those that have taken a metalsmithing or glass class at MAC or at another organization to continue practicing their skills. All firings, tools, enamels, frits, and supplies are included; however, sheet glass, copper, brass, and nickel are all purchased separately. Those supplies must be purchased from MAC to ensure that no harm will come to our equipment from foreign or otherwise different materials. Please be respectful of the studio and other participants and clean up after yourself. You may sign-up in advance and prepay using the Sawyer calendar below.
Clay Open Studios
Monday and Fridays 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (closed June - July for Summer Camps)
Sunday and Wednesday 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Hosts: Joey Wyatt, Gene Seivers, Katie Mayes, and Julie Coonrod
Price: $10 per session, cash, check, or card
The clay open studios are intended for anyone who has ceramic experience, through a class with the MAC or another organization. There is no instruction provided, however the community is often willing to help get you started. The $10 fee covers all firings, glaze, and tools, however clay must be purchased at $30 per bag. No outside clay or glazes are allowed without prior approval by the Director of Visual Arts. Please be respectful of the space and other participants, leaving a mess and not cleaning up impacts other's ability to make their work. Children under the age of 13 may attend free of charge with a parent's attendance and supervision. You may sign up and prepay below, but are also able to simply walk-in.
MAC Annual Open Studio Exhibition:
For those that have been part of an open studio for the last 6 months, or have taken a class in the past year. You may be eligible to participate in the annual exhibition in the MAC gallery.
