Scholarship & Tuition Reduction Policies

To reduce barriers to participation in our programs, Manhattan Arts Center awards several kinds of scholarships, offers payment plan opportunities, and encourages a Volunteer Work Exchange option for adults (ages 18+).

Military

We offer a 10% military discount on all classes and tickets.

Youth

Funds for scholarships to MAC youth programs are provided through GMCF and YES! Fund grants, as well as through generous contributions from donors.

Families who qualify for the federal (USDA) free or reduced school lunch program are automatically eligible for some MAC scholarships on all youth programs. Youth in foster care are also automatically eligible for MAC scholarships. Scholarship applications will be considered as long as funds last.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need:

  • Free School Lunch (federal income eligibility guidelines) & children in foster care - up to 60% off
  • Reduced Lunch (federal income eligibility guidelines) - up to 35% off
  • Other - determined on a case by case basis. Please complete the application.
  • Scholarship eligibility may apply to multiple children in the home.

MAC reserves the right to limit the number of classes per person per semester covered by scholarship or tuition reduction.

Adults

Adults (18+) may apply for reduced tuition through our Volunteer Work Exchange program. This program provides the opportunity to receive up to 50% off any class tuition in exchange for designated volunteer hours. For more information, click HERE

MAC can combine the Volunteer Work Exchange program with a payment plan for the remainder of tuition, if needed.

Application

MAC cannot guarantee scholarship availability. Scholarship amounts may change depending on fund availability. Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Applicants are encouraged to apply early.
