Charlotte, Marlowe, Sydney, and Daphne have been best friends since childhood, only separating to go on their own paths post undergrad. Years later, when Charlotte goes missing, the others return to their hometown of Manhattan, Kansas to try and make sense of it all. This homecoming drudges up the past, forcing them to reconcile with their own disappointments about growing up, what it means to find home, and how much they’ve missed looking at the stars.

World Premiere! The Little Apple Core was written by playwright andrew michael reid specifically for the Manhattan Arts Center. Celebrating the beauty of the community of Manhattan, Kansas, we are thrilled to present this one-of-a-kind, heartfelt, and important piece.

Friday & Saturday performances begin at 7:30pm.
Sunday matinees begin at 2:00pm.

Auditions will be held September 27 & 28 at 7:00 PM. Auditionees only need to attend one evening and do not need to sign up for a time slot — simply arrive at 7:00 PM.

This show has been commissioned specifically for Manhattan, and as such, will have an irregular rehearsal process.  Not only will the cast perform in the regularly January slot (January 21-23, 28-30), but if the production is successful, it will also be performed at the Association of Kansas Theatre Festival (KanAKT Fest) March 12-14, and potentially beyond.  

The play features 4 women of similar age over a span of years.  Ideal candidates will be strong actors age 25-40ish, with a main consideration being that it is believable all four women graduated college the same year in the play.
